On the afternoon of Tuesday February 25 the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley received a call from the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department requesting our assistance.  They had just rescued an elderly man from a snowed-in, unheated home in Summit, and three goats and a dog had been found to be living on the property without adequate shelter or sustenance.  Our Shelter Manager, assisted by her husband and another Shelter employee, and aided by a friend familiar with goats, spent two hours at the scene in below-freezing temperatures and high winds rounding up the frightened animals.  They are now all safe, and being cared for.

Local station WTEN covered the story that same night.  Click here to view.
